I have numerous physical, mental and emotional challenges. I am on disability for a brain condition that affects all my other organ systems. Over the years, numerous medical doctors have either dismissed me or misdiagnosed me. I'm basically a "train wreck" and my co-morbidities make my case very complex and challenging to treat. (For example, what treats one condition is detrimental to one of my other conditions).
I was feeling very discouraged and defeated when I walked into Dr. Urrutia's treatment room. She patiently listened and then provided accurate, practical and realistic care. I was beyond impressed. I have been to numerous acupuncturists over three decades and she is one of the best! I was particularly encouraged when she treated my ADHD with just one strategic acupuncture point. Wow. I’ve been seeing Hyacinth for several years for such things as pain control for osteoarthritis in the knees and other conditions.
My annual eye exam of 2019 revealed “moderate cataracts” in both eyes. The optometrist told me that at that time there was a one to two year wait for surgery. In 2020, I spoke with Hyacinth about the condition and opted to try micro acupuncture for the cataracts (see blog post). My optometrist was aware of and supportive of the treatment. PLEASE NOTE that NO needles are used in or around the eyes.
The end of the recommended treatment schedule coincided with my recall (eye) exam in the same year. I’m happy to report that the exam showed some improvement in one eye & the other eye has remained the same. I’ve had regular follow-up treatments with Hyacinth and have recently been able to go back to my pre-cataract glasses. Since we are all individuals, we will all respond differently to acupuncture or any treatment.

I had pain on my right shoulder blade that was so excruciatingly bad it made me cry. It happened every morning about 10 minutes after I woke up. My husband would massage it, I would take Oxycontin, nothing would touch the pain. I would suffer for an hour or more every morning. I went to Lacombe & had Cortisone injections 4 or 6 times with 10 to 12 shots, no relief. My family doctor said there was nothing he could do. I suffered for 2½ years.
I also had pain in my left hip (sometimes my right), for which I was seeing an orthopedic surgeon for hip replacement. I could only be on my feet in the kitchen for 10-12 minutes until I had unbearable pain and had to sit down. I had 6-8 Cortisone shots, it didn’t help.
After seeing Hyacinth Urrutia and having acupuncture & “jars” or cups applied to my hip & my back I have virtually no pain after 6 treatments. It simply is a miracle. I made butter tarts and was on my feet for three hours, I sat down when I was done & my feet & legs were tired but my hips were fine.
I no longer dread mornings. I have no more back pain, I want to tell everyone who is suffering what Hyacinth can do.

I had put out my shoulder/arm pain level 10 at first, then a steady pain level 7 for 2 weeks. Chiropractor was able to fix my back and shoulder but I had a pinched nerve in my writing hand/arm that was veryyyyyy uncomfortable at work I saw Hyacinth and after the 2nd treatment I was able to feel my finger tips and my arm didn't hurt anymore. She is very kind and is there for the patient needs, a wonderful woman. She is so good I took my Mom to her because she could not feel her toes, they felt like wood; she had this condition for 3 years and the doctors said they couldn't do anything for her. I have always had Spring allergies and never wanted to go outdoors to avoid trees and grass during this season. Spring has always been a dreaded time for me because I have never been able to function without taking antihistamines regularly. The side effect of drowsiness, always being thirsty and consequently always going to the washroom was a challenge each Spring. Last year, Hyacinth started working on me late in the Winter with acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. For the first time in many years, I was able go outside, and enjoy my time outdoors without anti-allergy medications. I am looking forward to the warmth and bloom of Spring now.
