Acupuncture is an ancient treatment that has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with records dating more than 3,000 years. It is based on the concept that the body has the natural ability to heal itself. By inserting fine sterile disposable stainless steel needles at specific acupuncture points, the body is able to regulate its internal organs, structures, and functions in order to hasten the process of healing.
What can acupuncture do for you?
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including:
Help your body heal itself the natural way.
When she was young, Hyacinth was torn between becoming a doctor or pursuing a career in the arts. She eventually decided on taking a pre-medical course in university. Halfway through her degree, she realized she really wanted to be in the arts, and continued her education in film and advertising. She worked for a number of years in the industry.
Many years and many kids later, Hyacinth realized that acupuncture and other alternative medicine was her first choice when it comes to her family’s health. With her kids grown, she decided to come back full circle and answer her calling as a healer through Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Treating the Whole Person
Hyacinth believes in treating the whole person, looking into her patients’ diet and lifestyle as part of the healing process. She treats a variety of conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, sleep problems, allergies, asthma, digestive issues, PMS, dysmenorrhea, fertility concerns, menopause symptoms, muscle and joint pains, and other health concerns.
Besides acupuncture and Chinese herbs, she also uses other Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities such as cupping, Tui Na, Gua Sha, electro stimulation, and moxibustion therapy.
As a life-long learner, she is committed to expanding her knowledge to give patients better care. She has taken a number of continuing education courses including Cosmetic Acupuncture. Hyacinth is a member of the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA).
I had pain on my right shoulder blade that was so excruciatingly bad it made me cry. It happened every morning about 10 minutes after I woke up. My husband would massage it, I would take Oxycontin, nothing would touch the pain. I would suffer for an hour or more every morning. I went to Lacombe & had Cortisone injections 4 or 6 times with 10 to 12 shots, no relief. My family doctor said there was nothing he could do. I suffered for 2½ years.
I also had pain in my left hip (sometimes my right), for which I was seeing an orthopedic surgeon for hip replacement. I could only be on my feet in the kitchen for 10-12 minutes until I had unbearable pain and had to sit down. I had 6-8 Cortisone shots, it didn’t help.
After seeing Hyacinth Urrutia and having acupuncture & “jars” or cups applied to my hip & my back I have virtually no pain after 6 treatments. It simply is a miracle. I made butter tarts and was on my feet for three hours, I sat down when I was done & my feet & legs were tired but my hips were fine.
I no longer dread mornings. I have no more back pain, I want to tell everyone who is suffering what Hyacinth can do.

I had put out my shoulder/arm pain level 10 at first, then a steady pain level 7 for 2 weeks. Chiropractor was able to fix my back and shoulder but I had a pinched nerve in my writing hand/arm that was veryyyyyy uncomfortable at work I saw Hyacinth and after the 2nd treatment I was able to feel my finger tips and my arm didn't hurt anymore. She is very kind and is there for the patient needs, a wonderful woman. She is so good I took my Mom to her because she could not feel her toes, they felt like wood; she had this condition for 3 years and the doctors said they couldn't do anything for her. After 3 treatments she could feel them again; which improved her walking. I definitely believe in acupuncture, I wouldn't have my daughter if I hadn't tried acupuncture.

Hyacinth is absolutely amazing!! She has helped me heal and move on from sexual trauma. I never would have thought that acupuncture could help. It never crossed my mind. Thank you Hyacinth you helped me gain my life back and I am now able to dream again!
I initially approached Hyacinth because I was searching for a holistic way to treat my pain and stress.
Hyacinth helped me by providing professional diagnostics and treatment options. The results have been amazing! My pain levels dropped to a point where I no longer require pain medication and my stress levels have decreased significantly and feel manageable.
Hyacinth has made me feel comfortable from Day 1. I am so happy with her and how she has helped me that I travel 2 hours from my hometown on a regular basis just to see her.
My experience has been rewarding and empowering and I would recommend Hyacinth to anyone who needs pain and stress management.
I highly recommend going to Hyacinth for acupuncture treatment. I went to her for a few different issues and began seeing results immediately. I experienced improvements with every issue she treated me for, including major results with my stress levels and sleeping patterns. Hyacinth was always highly professional and thorough, including sending follow-up emails with further treatment advice.
Hyacinth is amazing. I've had pain at the back of my ribs for several years and my doctor had sent me for several tests. He recommended I use pain killers. Hyacinth was able to treat me and I no longer have this pain. I highly recommend you try acupuncture to relieve undiagnosed pain. It works wonders.
I have always had Spring allergies and never wanted to go outdoors to avoid trees and grass during this season. Spring has always been a dreaded time for me because I have never been able to function without taking antihistamines regularly. The side effect of drowsiness, always being thirsty and consequently always going to the washroom was a challenge each Spring. Last year, Hyacinth started working on me late in the Winter with acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. For the first time in many years, I was able go outside, and enjoy my time outdoors without anti-allergy medications. I am looking forward to the warmth and bloom of Spring now. I just need to make sure to see Hyacinth soon.
Acupuncture provided by Hyacinth has given me relief from the pain related to my multiple health issues. Hyacinth is very personable and was very quick to diagnose, recommend and concentrate treatments which were effective after only a few sessions. She is very dedicated to the task and focused on getting me the relief I needed. I have been able to minimize my medication for arthritis.
I have become very confident in Hyacinth's experience and knowledge. I am very pleased with the treatments she has provided me and I highly recommend her.
